Amazon ends the Prime Invitee program and introduces Amazon Family for sharing benefits within households.

Amazon is ending its Prime Invitee program that lets Prime members share free shipping with non-household members on October 1. In its place, Amazon Family will allow account holders to share benefits with one other adult, up to four teens, and four children's profiles within the same household. Former Invitees can sign up for a Prime membership at a discounted rate of $14.99 for the first year. This change comes as Amazon invests in faster delivery services for less densely populated areas.
