Iraq's Prime Minister reopens historic Mosul mosque, rebuilt after ISIS destruction in 2014.
Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has reopened the historic al-Nuri Grand Mosque and its leaning minaret in Mosul, eight years after it was destroyed by ISIS.
The mosque, standing for 850 years, was a site where ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared a caliphate in 2014.
The reconstruction, costing $115 million and supported by UNESCO, UAE, and the EU, symbolizes resilience and cultural preservation.
War-damaged churches were also rebuilt as part of the project.
