Tommy Jo, a filly trained by Todd Pletcher, won the Grade I Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, earning a spot in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Ridden by Kendrick Carmouche, Tommy Jo won by 6 1/2 lengths. In other races, Bellezza won the Grade II Flower Bowl, securing a Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf spot, and Praying won the Grade III Prioress by 3 1/2 lengths.
