Inmate Tyrrel Bigchild escapes during a temporary absence from a minimum-security facility in Edmonton.

Tyrrel Bigchild, a 21-year-old inmate serving a 2-year and 9-month sentence for robbery, assault with a weapon, and failing to comply with an undertaking, escaped from a minimum-security facility in Edmonton on August 30, 2025. Bigchild, described as 5'8" and 170 lbs with multiple tattoos, was on an escorted temporary absence when he fled. The Edmonton Police Service has issued a warrant for his arrest. Authorities are working to locate Bigchild and urge the public to contact the police with any information.
