Protesters gathered near hotels in Epping and Cheshunt housing asylum seekers after the UK government won a court challenge allowing asylum seekers to stay in an Essex hotel. The Bell Hotel in Epping, where an asylum seeker was charged with sexually assaulting a teen, became a protest focal point. The Home Office and hotel owner won their legal challenge against a previous ruling to remove the asylum seekers. Police in Epping can now ask individuals to remove items concealing their identity. Broxbourne Council plans to take legal action to close the Delta Marriott hotel in Cheshunt, used for asylum seekers.
