India opens its first tempered glass manufacturing plant, aiming to reduce imports and create jobs.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated India's first tempered glass manufacturing plant in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Operated by Optiemus Infracom, the plant will produce about 2.5 crore tempered glasses annually, previously imported. The facility marks a significant step in India's 'Make in India' initiative, aiming to reduce imports and boost local manufacturing. The plant, with an investment of Rs 870 crore, also plans to scale up to 200 million units annually, creating over 4,500 direct jobs.
