Australian government allocates extra $1 billion to aid farmers and boost climate resilience.
The Australian government has announced an additional $1 billion for the Regional Investment Corporation (RIC), bringing total funds to over $5 billion.
This extension, beyond its June 2023 end date, provides concessional loans to farmers and small agricultural businesses to help them manage financial hardships and invest in climate resilience.
The funds also aim to aid those affected by natural disasters like South Australia's algal bloom.
Since 2018, the RIC has supported over 3,400 farmers with $3.3 billion in loans.
