Mumbai sees eco-friendly Ganesha idol immersions as part of the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The Ganesh Chaturthi festival, celebrated from August 27 to September 6, involves the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols, known as Visarjan.
While traditionally done on the final day, Anant Chaturdashi, devotees can choose to immerse the idols anytime during the festival based on personal preference.
This year in Mumbai, eco-friendly practices have been encouraged, with 94 idols immersed by midday Thursday, including clay and Plaster of Paris idols in artificial ponds.
The BMC has promoted the use of clay and natural paints to reduce environmental impact.
