Denmark and Greenland have apologized to Indigenous Greenlandic women for forced contraception programs from the 1960s to the 1970s. Up to 4,500 women and girls were fitted with IUDs without consent, allegedly to limit population growth. The apology follows lawsuits filed by nearly 150 women and comes before an expected report on an investigation into the mistreatment.
