Mexican drug lord "El Mayo" Zambada is set to plead guilty to supplying the U.S. with drugs.
Mexican drug lord Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, former leader of the Sinaloa cartel, is expected to plead guilty to federal charges related to his role in supplying the US with cocaine, heroin, and other drugs. Scheduled to appear before a federal judge in Brooklyn, Zambada, 77, is expected to plead guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy and one count of running a continuing criminal enterprise. Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty. Zambada, arrested in Texas last year, led a violent cartel known for assassinations, kidnappings, and torture.
