Starlink receives Indian approval to provide satellite internet, with data staying within the country.
India's Department of Telecommunications has granted a Unified License to Starlink, allowing the satellite-based internet service to operate under strict security conditions that keep all Indian user data within the country.
The service, expected to launch late 2025 or early 2026, will have a one-time hardware fee of about Rs 33,000 and monthly subscriptions ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,200.
Starlink must set up earth station gateways in India, and the service is anticipated to create job opportunities in the country.
