Newcastle's independent councillors seek to change seating arrangement to sit together at meetings.
Independent Newcastle councillors Mark Brooker and Peter Gittins are proposing a new seating arrangement at council meetings, asking to sit together rather than at opposite ends of the horseshoe-shaped table.
They believe this change would give independents the same seating rights as politically affiliated councillors.
The motion, if passed, would place Brooker and Gittins together on the right side of the chamber, with Greens councillor Siobhan Isherwood on the opposite side.
