India's fuel retailers report more than double the profit, with BPCL leading despite smaller size.
In the first quarter of 2025-26, India's state-owned fuel retailers—BPCL, IOC, and HPCL—reported a combined profit of ₹16,184 crore, more than doubling from the previous year.
BPCL, despite being half the size of IOC, led with a profit of ₹6,124 crore, outperforming IOC's ₹5,689 crore and HPCL's ₹4,371 crore.
BPCL's success was driven by higher refining margins and fuel sales per pump, which offset inventory losses due to falling crude oil prices.
