Kerala's government has approved an additional dearness allowance (DA) for employees and teachers, and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners, effective September 1, adding about Rs 2,000 crore to annual spending. This is the second installment this year, following through on commitments despite financial pressures from the pandemic. The benefit covers staff in universities, technical education, and medical services.
