New Zealand launches service to help emergency responders quickly locate individuals in crises.
New Zealand has launched a Device Location Information (DLI) service to help emergency services locate individuals in life-threatening situations more quickly.
The service, announced by the Minister of Police, allows emergency responders to access the approximate location of a person's mobile device even if they haven't called for help, improving response times in critical situations.
Supported by the Telecommunications Carriers Forum, the DLI is part of a larger effort by Next Generation Critical Communications to modernize emergency service infrastructure.
