Bolton, who served in Trump's first term, published a 2020 memoir critical of Trump's foreign policy, leading to a lawsuit from the Trump administration over classified information. The Biden administration later dismissed the lawsuit and dropped an investigation. The FBI has stated there was no threat to public safety.
