FDA warns against Walmart's Great Value shrimp due to potential radioactive contamination.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against consuming, selling, or serving certain Great Value raw frozen shrimp sold at Walmart due to potential contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope.
This warning follows the detection of Cesium-137 in shipping containers at four U.S. ports, though no contaminated shrimp has entered the food supply.
The FDA recommends recalling all products from Indonesian distributor BMS Foods shipped after their containers tested positive for radiation.
The FDA has also banned all products from BMS Foods from entering the U.S. until the company resolves the contamination issue.
