Former Louisiana Speaker of the House Joe Reece Salter passed away at 82. Salter served in public office for 22 years, including four as Speaker from 2004 to 2008. He was also a teacher and principal before entering politics and was inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame in 2008. Governor Jeff Landry ordered state flags to fly at half-staff in his honor.
