Off-duty cop cleared after hitting two jaywalking pedestrians on dark highway section in BC.
The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia has cleared an off-duty police officer of wrongdoing after the officer struck two jaywalking pedestrians on a poorly lit section of the Trans-Canada Highway in April. The pedestrians suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries. The IIO concluded that it was reasonably unforeseeable for the officer to expect people to cross there, and no charges will be recommended.
