Driver sentenced to 13 years for fatal hit-and-run that killed pregnant woman's unborn child.

A 20-year-old driver, Ashir Shahid, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for causing the death of a five-months-pregnant woman's unborn child and seriously injuring her in a hit-and-run accident. Renju Joseph was hit by Shahid's Toyota Prius as she crossed a zebra crossing in dark, wet conditions, with the car estimated to be traveling at between 58mph and 71mph in a 30mph zone. Shahid and his brother, Sam Shahid, 17, were found guilty of their respective charges, with Sam receiving a three-year sentence for assisting an offender. Renju Joseph suffered life-changing injuries.
