Over 40% of Dublin's food pubs may cut staff due to delayed VAT rate reduction, survey shows.
A survey by the Licensed Vintners Association shows that over 40% of Dublin's food pubs may cut staff if the lower VAT rate is delayed until 2026, and 10% might stop food service entirely.
Since the higher VAT rate began in September 2023, about 52% of food pubs have seen a decline in food sales, with 62% noticing fewer lunch orders.
The majority, 92%, want the VAT rate to be reduced from Budget Day, not delayed until January 2026.
