Four Jammu and Kashmir seats will again be vacant in the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.
The upcoming Vice-Presidential election on September 9 will see four seats from Jammu and Kashmir remain vacant in the Rajya Sabha for the second consecutive time.
The Election Commission has not yet held the required biennial polls to fill these positions, leaving the Union Territory unrepresented in the Upper House of Parliament since February 2021.
There are currently six total vacancies in the Rajya Sabha, including the four from Jammu and Kashmir and one each from Punjab and Jharkhand.
