India's defence production hit a record Rs 1.51 lakh crore in FY 2024-25, marking an 18% growth from the previous year and a 90% increase since FY 2019-20. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attributed the surge to policy reforms, ease of doing business, and a push for indigenisation under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The private sector's share rose to 23%, while Defence Public Sector Undertakings accounted for 77% of production. India's defence exports also reached a new high of Rs 23,622 crore.
