SEPTA warns of severe service cuts starting Aug 24 if $213M funding isn't secured by Aug 14.
SEPTA, Philadelphia's transit system, faces cutting 20% of its services starting August 24 if it doesn't receive new state funding by August 14, due to a $213 million budget deficit.
This would eliminate 32 bus routes, reduce rail services, and end special services.
SEPTA also plans a 21.5% fare increase on September 1.
If funding isn't secured, further cuts in January will include eliminating five Regional Rail lines and setting a 9 pm curfew on all rail services.
