UC Berkeley and Stanford launch a first-of-its-kind public database of California police misconduct records.
UC Berkeley and Stanford University have launched the Police Records Access Project, a first-of-its-kind public database containing 1.5 million pages of police misconduct and use-of-force records from nearly 700 California agencies.
Jointly published by several media outlets, the database took seven years to develop and allows the public to search misconduct cases and identify policing trends.
Funded by the state and private foundations, it excludes personal information and sensitive materials.
