flag Farmers in India have until July 31 to enroll in a government insurance scheme for their crops.

Farmers in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, have been given until July 31 to enroll their maize and paddy crops under India’s Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme, which offers insurance protection against weather-related damages. The enrollment deadline was extended due to delayed monsoon and sowing activities. The scheme provides up to Rs 2,400 per kanal coverage for a premium of Rs 48 per kanal. Last year, over 4,400 farmers received Rs 83.41 lakh in compensation.
