A tsunami advisory has been issued for parts of British Columbia's coast following an 8.7-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Russia on July 29. The National Tsunami Warning Centre is evaluating the risk for coastal zones, including the north coast, Haida Gwaii, central coast, northeast Vancouver Island, outer west coast of Vancouver Island, and the Juan de Fuca Strait coast. The earthquake, initially measured at 8.0, struck about 129 kilometers southeast of Kamchatka, Russia.
