Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has declared agribusiness as the future of Ghana's economy, aiming to transform the country into an industrial and export powerhouse.
At the National Agribusiness Dialogue in Accra, he emphasized the need for infrastructure development, particularly in northeastern regions, to improve agricultural product movement.
Mahama unveiled initiatives like the Keep the Industries Initiative and the Accelerated Export Development Programme to support year-round agriculture and reduce post-harvest losses.
The Feed Industry Programme was launched to boost industrial capacity utilization from 30-40% to 70-80%.
The government is also compiling a list of agro-processed products to promote local content and developing a National Agribusiness Policy to guide investment.
