Over 5 million above-ground pools recalled in U.S., Canada due to drowning risk for toddlers.
Over 5 million above-ground pools, 48 inches tall or more, have been recalled in the U.S. and Canada due to a drowning risk.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission, along with manufacturers Intex, Bestway, and Polygroup, issued the recall after nine toddler drownings between 2007 and 2022.
The pools' external straps pose a hazard as they serve as footholds for children to climb in.
No refunds are offered, but free repair kits are available to make the pools safer.
