Mike McClain, a longtime lobbyist and close friend of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, has been sentenced to two years in prison for his role in a bribery scheme involving Chicago utility company ComEd. The scheme, which spanned years and involved $1.3 million, saw McClain pushing for jobs and contracts for Madigan's allies to secure legislative favors. U.S. District Judge Manish Shah refuted McClain's claim that he was just doing legal lobbying, stating that it included "phony contracts, false invoices, and do-nothing jobs." McClain is the third of the "ComEd Four" to be sentenced, following Madigan's conviction and 7½-year prison term.
