Ghana reports a 15.6% reduction in public debt, marking significant financial progress.
Ghana's Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, reported a significant reduction in the country's public debt, dropping by GH¢113.7 billion in six months, marking a 15.6% decrease.
Foreign debt as a percentage of total public debt also fell from 57.4% to 49%.
The government has made substantial payments on both domestic and foreign debts, totaling GH¢10.2 billion in coupons for DDEP bonds and GH¢724.1 million for non-tendered bonds in the second half of 2025, reaffirming its commitment to honoring debt service obligations.
