British mother faces over a year in Mauritian prison awaiting trial for alleged cannabis smuggling.

A British mother, Natashia Artug, is held in Mauritius's poor-condition Beau Bassin Central Prison, accused of trying to smuggle £1.6 million worth of cannabis, hidden in her son's suitcase. Artug, along with six other British citizens and her partner, allegedly transported 161kg of cannabis. She faces over a year on remand before her trial, with the Foreign Office providing support.
