Indian Chief Justice BR Gavai recuses from case over judge implicated in cash scandal.

The Chief Justice of India, BR Gavai, has recused himself from hearing a plea filed by Allahabad High Court Judge Yashwant Varma, who is contesting an in-house committee report that implicated him in a cash recovery scandal at his official residence. Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal requested an urgent hearing on Varma's behalf. The Supreme Court has now set up a special bench to handle the case.
