On July 23, 2025, Hawke's Bay Hospital in New Zealand was placed on lockdown due to a report of a suspicious person potentially carrying a firearm. Police surrounded the hospital and nearby Heretaunga Intermediate school as a precaution. After an hour, the lockdown was lifted when it was found that the person in question had left the hospital and there was no gunman present.
