US-based short-seller Viceroy Research has accused Vedanta Semiconductors Pvt Ltd (VSPL) of being a "sham commodities trading operation" to avoid classification as an NBFC and to help Vedanta Ltd remit brand fees to its parent during a liquidity crisis. Vedanta Group has rejected these allegations, stating all VSPL activities are transparent and comply with statutory norms.
