Indian court restricts Enforcement Directorate's investigative powers, deeming it not a "super cop."

The Madras High Court ruled that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) cannot act freely like a "drone" or investigate every case that comes to its notice. The court stated this while reviewing a case where the ED seized ₹901 crore from RKM Powergen Private Ltd, linked to a 2014 CBI case over coal block allocation. The ED can only investigate if there is a "predicate offence" and proceeds of crime, clarifying that it is not a "super cop."
