India's Ministry of External Affairs has rebutted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's warning of secondary sanctions for purchasing Russian oil. The MEA emphasized that securing India’s energy needs is an "overriding priority," guided by available offers and global circumstances. They cautioned against "double standards," noting that India has diversified its oil suppliers from 27 to 40 countries. NATO had asked India, China, and Brazil to reconsider their oil purchases from Russia, threatening severe sanctions if they continued.
