France ends 65-year military presence in Senegal, withdrawing its last troops from the country.

France will formally return its last military bases in Senegal, ending its 65-year military presence in the country. Around 350 French troops, who conducted joint operations with Senegalese forces, will depart after a three-month process. This move follows similar withdrawals across Africa, as former colonies distance themselves from France. Despite this, Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye insists on continuing cooperation with Paris.
