China-linked hackers target Taiwan's semiconductor industry amid U.S. export restrictions.
China-linked hackers are targeting Taiwan's semiconductor industry and investment analysts in a series of cyber espionage campaigns, according to cybersecurity firm Proofpoint. The hacking groups, active between March and June, targeted around 15 to 20 organizations, including small businesses and large global enterprises. These attacks coincide with increased U.S. restrictions on exporting U.S.-designed chips to China, which are often manufactured in Taiwan and are crucial for China's AI industry.
