Former ComEd lobbyist sentenced to 18 months for bribery in scheme to influence ex-Speaker Madigan.

Former ComEd lobbyist John Hooker was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in a bribery scheme to influence former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. Hooker and three co-defendants were convicted in May 2023 for paying over $1.3 million to Madigan's allies through intermediaries. The scheme aimed to secure Madigan's support for legislation favorable to ComEd. Sentencing for the other defendants is pending.
