Wildfire destroys Grand Canyon Lodge and closes North Rim for the season.

A fast-moving wildfire, known as the Dragon Bravo Fire, has destroyed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and numerous other structures at the park's North Rim, leading to the closure of the area for the season. The lodge was the only lodging inside the park at the North Rim. The fire spread due to hot temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds, growing to 7.8 square miles. No injuries have been reported, but a wastewater treatment plant was also destroyed, posing a risk of chlorine gas exposure. The North Rim was evacuated last Thursday, and the area remains closed due to ongoing risks.
