The World Health Organization recommends including lenacapavir, a new HIV prevention drug, in efforts to combat the virus, especially in high-risk groups and areas with high HIV rates. Approved as a twice-yearly injection, lenacapavir has shown significant protection against HIV in trials. Uganda, with high HIV prevalence, is among the first countries to benefit, though the drug's high cost raises concerns. Gilead Sciences, the manufacturer, has agreed to supply lenacapavir at no profit to support access in low- and middle-income countries.
