NSW government cancels new Westmead school, reallocates funds to upgrade existing schools.
The NSW government has scrapped plans for a second public school in the Sydney suburb of Westmead, after spending $20 million since 2018.
Instead, it will use the remaining $953,000 to upgrade and expand existing primary schools in Westmead and nearby areas.
The government is also exploring sites for new high schools.
Critics argue the decision lacks foresight, as the area is not among the top growth zones for student enrollment.
