China has finished a massive 4,197-km power transmission loop around the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, the country's largest desert region. This 15-year project includes a 750-kilovolt loop with nine substations and nearly 10,000 steel towers. Expected to be fully operational by November 2025, it aims to boost development in southern Xinjiang and enhance the national energy supply.
