A 33-year-old Atlantic puffin, named JG18, was discovered on Machias Seal Island in New Brunswick, Canada, with a chick. This makes it one of the oldest puffins on record, as most live only up to their mid-20s. The bird, initially identified by a plastic band from 1992, was found by University of New Brunswick researcher Daniel Oliker. Puffins are listed as "vulnerable" by the IUCN due to threats from climate change, but this discovery offers valuable insights into the species' longevity and adaptability.
