Eight drug manufacturers have agreed to a $720 million nationwide settlement over their role in the opioid crisis. Mississippi could receive up to $6.35 million, while other states like Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota are also set to receive portions of the settlement funds. Seven of the eight companies will be prohibited from promoting or marketing opioids and must establish systems to monitor suspicious orders. Indivior will stop manufacturing and selling opioid products for a decade, but can continue selling treatments for opioid use disorder.
