Royal Mail to end Saturday deliveries for second-class mail, starting July 28, to save up to £425M annually.
Ofcom has allowed Royal Mail to stop Saturday deliveries for second-class mail starting July 28, switching to an alternate weekday delivery. This change aims to save the company between £250 million and £425 million annually. First-class mail will continue to be delivered Monday to Saturday. Ofcom will keep the target for second-class letters to arrive within three working days, but lower the target for first-class mail to 90% next-day delivery and 95% of second-class mail within three days. Royal Mail will gradually implement the changes after pilot tests.
