Irving Shipbuilding, a company known for its work on the Royal Canadian Navy’s fleet in Halifax, faces charges related to safety violations following the 2024 death of employee Jamie Knight, who was struck by equipment during snow removal. The Labour Department alleges the company failed to create a proper safety plan, adhere to equipment specifications, and appoint a supervisor for the machine. Irving Shipbuilding is set to enter a plea on October 1st.
