Six people were injured in a boat explosion on Lake Martin, Alabama, caused by unpermitted fireworks during a celebration. The pontoon boat, modified into a fireworks platform, malfunctioned around 9:14 p.m. on July 4th, near the Kowaliga Basin in Blue Creek. The injured were transported to local hospitals. A joint investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Alabama Fire Marshal's Office is underway. ALEA advises against using fireworks on boats without proper permits and safety measures.
