One in five Alberta patients leaves ERs untreated, report finds, amid health care access issues.
Nearly one in five patients in Alberta leave emergency rooms without receiving treatment, according to a report by the Alberta Medical Association (AMA).
The report, titled "State of Health Care 2025," surveyed 1,120 people and found that 58% of those who visited ERs rated timeliness of care as poor.
Additionally, 18% of adult Albertans lack a family doctor.
The Ministry of Hospital and Surgical Health Services disputes the report, claiming the sample size is too small to be representative.
